Fugitives swindle legally blind Wayne man in rental scam

It was supposed to be a dream deal, a home in the city of Wayne for rent, just comfortable enough for Fowlerville residents Will Adams, his girlfriend, and her son.

Legally blind, Adams was in a rush to settle into an apartment, before starting in a special program at a school for the visually impaired.

So after getting a tour of the three bedroom home, he quickly opened up his wallet, paying nearly $900, dipping into his monthly disability check.

But when they showed up on moving day, they learned that not only was this house not for rent, but the woman who lived there --- was the mother of the person they believed would be their landlord.

Chris Huffman and Shaun Fielhauer are the two men Adam says he believes were involved in the scam. Right now, both of them are on the run.

While the police department hasn't confirmed those identities, they do say they've just issued warrants on two suspects.

Adams and his girlfriend are out hundreds of dollars, but they do have a GoFund me page here. https://www.gofundme.com/3cim
