On a day set aside to celebrate love, people who live on Riverview Street in Riverview woke up to find racist fliers made to look like Valentines littering their lawns and sidewalks.

Terry McMillan's young daughter brought the flier to his attention.

"The yards were just littered with these, flooded with these," McMillan said. "It's sick."

The red hearts adorning the fliers included bold black type with racist views.

"Love your own race," said one.

"Stop homosexuality and race mixing," said another.

Underneath, appear the words "Join the Klan Today," along with a phone number, a web address, and a hooded Klansman pointing his finger, as if to say "I WANT YOU."

Some residents said they had a different finger in mind when they realized what was inside the zip-lock bags
littering their neighborhood.

"I opened it up and went 'Oh.' And I just started laughing like is this, is this a joke?," said Tina Stevens, who is a new resident on Riverview Street.

It wasn't the first time the Klan targeted the area.

Similar messages were scattered about last summer in nearby Trenton. In both cases, the bags included small rocks to keep the fliers from blowing away in the wind. Residents said they were blown away by the vile Valentines.

"Everybody's loved. Everybody's beautiful. And who cares what color you are, what race you are?," Stevens said.
