Dearborn police have arrested a man who they say broke into several garages in the city last week.
Paul Ziolkowski, 43, was arrested and charged with Breaking & Entering A Building with Intent and Habitual Offender Breaking & Entering - Illegal Entry - Third Offense.
Police say a homeowner found Ziolkowski inside his home in the early morning hours of Feb. 11 and police responded. He was scared off by the family dog.
A short time later, police arrested Ziolkowski, and after investigating, found his footprints in the snow tracing back to the home, and to several other garages in the neighborhood. Officers also found a snow blower had been taken from one of the homes, which he stored on the side of a party store where he was arrested.
"Our citizens are the eyes of the community," Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad said. "By remaining observant, the resident was able to give a detailed description of the suspect which led to apprehension."
Ziolkowski was arraigned and given a $5,000 bond.
