A suspected drunk driver crashed his car into a garage on the Davison Service Drive in Highland Park, and then ran to the nearby freeway.
For nearly 90 minutes, he hung onto a fence over the freeway, shutting it down.
Several agencies responded to the scene, trying to stop this man from either jumping or falling.
During these tense moments, 7 Action News cameras captured the man spitting in an officer's face several times, while holding onto the fence.
Sources tell us earlier in the night, he also sideswiped a car with someone in it. No one was hurt.
Police eventually cut a hole in the fence and dragged the man to safety. As a precaution, semi trucks were lined up below the overpass in case he went down.
No word yet on any charges.
Investigators say the man is also dealing with mental issues.
