Dearborn Heights Police say a man lost his life in a crash that happened Friday morning at Van Born and Beech Daly.

Investigators say a woman driving a Pontiac ran a red light and slammed into a gray SUV.

The driver of the SUV was not wearing his seatbelt. When his Suburban flipped, he was ejected out of the sunroof. The SUV landed on the man, killing him.

The woman who ran the red light was taken to the hospital, as well as Melissa Lundy's step-daughter. Her step-daughter is pregnant and was a passenger in a vehicle that was hit as it sat stopped at the light. Lundy says her step-daughter is physically okay, but traumatized.

"It's a gruesome scene the eyewitness went over there to try to help and was like you don't want to go there. He didn't have his seatbelt on. Seatbelts save lives," Lundy said.

The woman driving the Pontiac is expected to face charges for the crash.
