ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 35-year-old HIV positive Pontiac man has been charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct, accused of having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl he met on Snapchat.
The investigation began August 19, when Allen Park police were called by the parents of a girl who had run away. She was found about 5 hours later in Dearborn by officers conducting a welfare check.
At that time, the girl told officers she was going to meet her boyfriend. During an extensive conversation with Dearborn officers, the girl revealed her age at that she was having sex with an older man.
An investigation by officers in Allen Park determined that the girl was having sex with a man she met online. When they met, the girl believed the man was 19-year-old.
However, she told officers that she came to believe he may be 40-years-old during the course of their contacts.
Investigators say they determined the relationship had been conducted via Snapchat for some time. They also say the suspect was able to determine the girl's home using the location feature of Snapchat. It was once he determined where she lived that the sexual relationship began and continued for several weeks.
Police say they believe the suspect, who has been identified as 35-year-old Anthony Alving Hodges, used his influence to get the girl to run away with him.f
Hodges has been charged with 4 counts of 1st-degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, 1 count of 2nd-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct - person under 13, defendent 17 years of age or bolder, 2 counts HIV-KNowingly Engaging in Intercourse with Intent to Inflict Uninformed Partner and 1 Count of Habitual Offender - Second Notice.
Hodges does have a criminal record, including a conviction for 1st Degree Home Invasion. He was on probation at the time of his arrest for a charge of attempted AIDS-Sexual Penetration with Uninformed Partner.
He is currently locked up in the Oakland County Jail on a parole hold without a bond.
