The families of two people who were shot and killed by Dearborn police over the last two months are planning a protest at the department on Saturday afternoon.

Along with activist Malik Shabazz, the families of 36-year-old Kevin Matthews and 31-year-old Janet Wilson will be among those protesting.

Matthews was killed on Dec. 23, 2015 when police say he got into a physical encounter with an officer and a struggle took place over the officer's weapon.

Matthes was wanted for a probation violation out of Redford and a theft earlier in the day in Dearborn, and was spotted by the officer.

Wilson was killed on Jan. 28 when officers opened fire after she tried to take off during a traffic stop. One witness said it looked like Wilson was trying to run over the officer.
