A major construction project that is expected to cause a headache for drivers in Wayne and Oakland counties will begin Monday.
Southbound I-275 will close all lanes between 5 Mile Rd. and the I-96/I-696/M-5 interchange at 12:01 a.m. and will have a major impact on Monday's commute.
Construction will actually begin this weekend on the Revive I-275 project with crews preparing for Monday's closure by painting new lines, placing signage and moving barrels into place. That will cause ramp and lane closures through the weekend.
Once the full closure is in place, eastbound I-96 traffic will continue onto I-696 to southbound M-10 to southbound M-39, then westbound I-96 and back to I-275.
