Six-year-old Isabella Parrelly of Taylor is full of life and laughter. But a year ago, she was fighting for both.
The flu virus attacked Isabella's heart-- a condition known as myocarditis. She was put on life support and her family prepared themselves for the worst.
"If it was going to be the end, I didn't want to miss one minute of her life," said her father, Tim Parrelly.
"As a mom you want to take care of everybody and I wasn't able to that. All I could do is be by her side and his side and try to get through it," said Tracy Parrelly, Isabella's mother.
Isabella's remarkable recovery is nothing short of a miracle.
"Unfortunately, a lot of children or young people that get myocarditis don't have the same outcome so we are
truly, truly blessed," said Tracy.
Surgeries left Isabella with scars that embarrassed her. Wanting to boost her self-esteem, her father got tattoos of each one.
"Bravery. That's what those scars stand for. They stand for strength," said Tim.
Isabella appreciates what her father has done.
"He is the kindest person I've ever met in my life," she said.
