It's the kind of crime that leaves customers shaking their heads, wondering what kind of man would do this.

The Wild Coney and Grill on West Road in Woodhaven was the scene on April 29th. Surveillance video at first shows a man walking in, and milling around for nearly 10 minutes.

The manager Ali Harajli told us, "It's not right, it's appalling. This community is not like this. This is a great community."

We're told the fake customer told the staff he was waiting for a friend. But instead, you can see him look around, waiting for the right moment, and then he goes for it, stealing a donation box, money for the Woodhaven-Trenton Animal Shelter.

They say it's not about the amount of money stolen, but about how it could effect animals in need.

Harajli says, "There's no room for people like that is this community."

The restaurant is planning a fundraiser for May 17th, from 2:00 pm-10:00 pm for the animal shelter. We're told a percentage of the proceeds will be donated for animal care.

Wild Coney and Grill is hoping other businesses will step in and help out.
