A young man is now in trouble with the law after going on a bizarre rampage inside a local supermarket. It happened at the Kroger in Plymouth around 9:40 pm.
At the time, the 18-year-old said he believed it was the end of the world.
“He walked up to her, pushed over her grocery cart - it had groceries in it - and then punched the woman in the chest and then went into the store,” said Lt Bob Antal. “He was up and down the aisles yelling that the end of the universe was coming.”
Officers arrived quickly. From police dash cam video, you can see the 18-year-old man was on the ground while customers were standing near him.
“By the time we got there he was in the parking lot. He was laying there with the customers. They were holding him,” said Lt Antal.
The man then bizarrely jumped up and his wild behavior continued as he started flailing his arms.
Then police the subdued him.
“Once that handcuff was placed on the subject, he started to get a little bit violent and resist and struggle,” said Lt Antal.
The young man, was eventually brought into custody safely, without incident, but it took the work of several police officers who are being commended for the way they handled the situation.
“He had extremely, almost superhuman strength,” said Lt Antal. “It tool 5 officers to basically hold this young man down.”
Police suspect the man was on some type drug. He received a citation.
