The Bigby Coffee in Westland is holding a fundraiser Wednesday morning for the 10-year-old boy who was hit and killed by a car over the weekend.
Gage Carter was chasing after his dog on Saturday night when he was hit by the car. His family has asked for help raising money for funeral expenses, and now Bigby is stepping up to help.
The coffee shop at 36640 Ford Rd. in Westland will donate 50 percent of the sales from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. to the Carter family. They will also be taking additional donations in store.
Owner Mo Elfakir said he is hoping to cover as much of the funeral cost as possible to take the burden off the Carter family.
The family has also set up a GoFundMe account to raise money.
