A Detroit mother of three is dead, after the driver of the car she was riding in took off from Dearborn Heights police Thursday morning.
The car crashed into a tree in Inkster, leaving her family with many questions. The crash happened near Sylvia and Dartmouth.
Thirty-three year old Alena Ralston was riding in the front seat, when investigators say the driver took off, and officers followed. As they tried stopping him five blocks away in Dearborn Heights, officers say, the car had defective equipment.
Her aunt Chris Nash tells us, "She's a good person. She's beautiful on the inside, and that's what I want people to remember her for."
When asked if he felt anger, Joe Martin, her father, told 7 Action News, "Obviously, he ran and didn't care about anybody but himself."
Ralston leaves behind three daughters who lost their mother in an instant.
Investigators are still trying to figure out why the driver took off, while Ralston's family tells 7 Action News they have no idea who the guy was behind the wheel.
The driver remains in critical condition and police say he borrowed the car from a friend.
