(WXYZ) — Relief from the Polar Vortex in sight!

The dangerous, even deadly, cold has a firm grip on metro Detroit. A wind chill Warning is in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday. You should limit your time outside. Frostbite can occur in as little as 10 minutes when wind chills are -30° or colder. The cold weather is brutal right now, but this record-setting cold spell will ease with temperatures moderating this weekend.

Temperatures will still be frigid on Friday with highs only in the teens. However, by Saturday, seasonable temperatures return with afternoon highs into the low 30s. A warm front will pass through the region on Sunday boosting temperatures into the 40s. That's an incredible 40°+ jump from our temperatures today! The milder temperatures late this weekend will change any chance for morning snow showers to rain by Sunday afternoon. This moderating trend with above average temperatures will continue into early next week.
