(WXYZ) — Rep.-elect Rashida Tlaib, who will be one of the first Muslim women in Congress, shared a photo of the Palestinian gown she plans to wear during her swearing-in ceremony early next year.

In a photo on Instagram, Tlaib wrote, "Sneak peek: This is what I am wearing when I am sworn into Congress. #PalestinianThobe #ForMyMama."

Tlaib, a Democrat from Detroit, was elected to fill the seat that was long held by John Conyers.

According to CNN, Palestinian women traditionally wear hand-embroidered gowns, and it represents the city the wearer is from. They also report that she is the daughter of Palestinian immigrants.

Tlaib will be sworn in at 12 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2019.
