A toy that spun out of control in popularity is now being called into question for its potential lead levels.

Target is coming under criticism this morning over some of the fidget spinners it sells.

A watchdog organization, U.S. Public Interest Research Group, says the spinners have high levels of lead.

The spinners in question are reportedly made by Bulls i Tou, L.L.C.

Target says the items are not classified as toys, so they don't have to follow lead standards for children's products.

The watchdog group is calling on U.S. government safety organizations to change the classification of fidget spinners so they will have to meet federal regulations for children's products.
