DETROIT (WXYZ) — After a German Shepherd was hanged from a fence and shot on Detroit's east side, an anonymous donor has offered up at $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the extremely disturbing animal cruelty case.

Investigators responded to a complaint in the 5200 block of Devonshire on May 21. The caller said a dog was tied up with an electrical cord in the backyard. When investigators arrived, they found the dog deceased with multiple gunshot wounds.

The animal autopsy showed that the dog was alive when it was tied to the fence and subsequently shot. Investigators believe the incident took place within the last 10-14 days.

Anyone with information is asked to call the MHS cruelty hotline at 313-872-3401 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
