A Rochester Hills neighborhood is bouncing back from a tornado that left a trail of destruction last year.
The EF1 tornado caused serious damage throughout the neighborhood.
Miraculously, no one was hurt.
After spending months in temporary housing, Laura Benavides and her family are back in familiar surroundings.
“It’s great to be back here, especially being back in my own room and things going back to normal," says Benavides.
Mayor Bryan Barnett says he was touched by the way the community came together to help.
“A lot of folks came down, walking up and down the streets with chain saws," says Barnett. They brought food and water and supplies to the folks up here.”
The Benavides family is still working to restore their home. They hope to have it complete in the near future.
