For several weeks, business owners along Warren Avenue kept seeing tires illegally dumped in the area, including in the alley behind their properties.
It was unknown where the tires were coming from or who was behind the dumping, until recently. A business owner spotted a guy driving a rented truck from a home improvement store loaded with used tires down the alley.
When the truck came out of the alley, the tires were gone.
Fed up, they followed the driver and were able to get a license plate number and reported the information to Detroit police.
Officers with a task force dedicated to addressing illegally dumping, illegal scrapping and graffiti crimes followed up. Their investigation led police to John Anthony Evans with a listed address in West Bloomfield.
