21-year-old arrested by Roseville police in connection to homicide has been released, police say

ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Update: Police have released the 21-year-old previously in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a Detroit teen on Dec. 11. Roseville police say the individual has outstanding warrants on unrelated charges. As of now, Roseville police will be contacting the other jurisdictions. No other information was made available.

A 21-year-old was taken into custody Wednesday in connection to the shooting death of a 17-year-old from Detroit.

According to Roseville police, detectives served a search warrant at an apartment in the area of 21 Mile and Van Dyke. The shooting occurred in Roseville on Tuesday, Dec. 11 just after 10:30 p.m.

Roseville police responded to shots fired in the area of 12 Mile and Pinehurst, and when they arrived found the 17-year-old victim on the sidewalk. He was transported to an area hospital where he died from a gunshot wound.

The suspect is being held at the Roseville Police Department. An arraignment is expected to occur Thursday or Friday.

Police say they believe the suspect acted alone, and no information has been released on the motivation for the shooting.
