Police said 32-year-old Shane Caughey died after crashing into a tree. Investigators said Caughey was driving faster than 70 miles per hour and had been drinking before the accident.
Neighbors living on 12 Mile told 7 Action News, the wreck was so loud it got them out of bed just before 1:30 Thursday morning.
"It shook the house, it really did,” said neighbor, John Winfield.
Family members of Caughey arrive on the scene while 7 Action News was there. His sister was devastated. She said Caught had a 6-month-old baby.
No one else was injured in the crash and no other vehicles were involved.
