Roseville woman charged in connection to hanging mother's pet dog

ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 28-year-old Roseville woman has been charged in connection to hanging her mother's pet dog.

Prosecutors say that on June 14, Shavon LewisRoby allegedly took her mother's dog and hung it from a gate with jumper cables.

The dog was discovered by a neighbor who contacted Detroit Animal Care and Control. The dog's body was then given to investigators from the Michigan Humane Society and the Detroit Police Department. The investigation led to the identification and arrest of LewisRoby.

LewisRoby has been charged with one count of Animal Killing - Second Degree, a felony carrying a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
