(WXYZ) — Schoolcraft College will give scholarships to displaced Art Van workers.

They will award workers up to $500 per student, which may be used for credit or non-credit courses related to retraining, including career development, entrepreneurship and skilled professional trades.

The awards may also be applied to the police or fire academies.

A total of approximately $20,000 is available for scholarships.

"Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Schoolcraft College Foundation is able to help these workers train at Schoolcraft College for new careers," Schoolcraft College President Dr. Conway A. Jeffress said in a press release. "Art Van has been an incredibly strong philanthropic partner in Southeast Michigan for many decades, so this is our way of supporting those employees and their families."
