A security guard working for House of Zen in east Detroit is in the hospital after a shooting outside the medical marijuana shop.

Detroit police say they were called to the shop around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday after two guards were involved in a shooting.

According to police, one of the guards confronted a man who was standing outside the guard's car, while the other was waiting near the entrance of the shop.

The guard told the suspect to leave. Police say the suspect got into a two-toned older Chevy Silverado. Once the suspect got in the car, he started shooting at the two suspects.

“We heard like four shots – pop, pop, pop, pop,” said Yusef Zindani, who was working at the nearby Sunoco at the time of the shooting.

Police say the guard who stood watch at the door of the pot shop was shot two times, once in the chest and another time in the right upper armpit. According to police, the 43-year-old male guard is in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a 5 feet, 9 inches tall. He's described as a black man who was last seen leaving northbound on Marlborough.
