Ferndale is getting a modern twist on the classic European beer hall experience.
Livernois Tap and Brewery bills itself as a tall order: part brewery, taproom, restaurant, urban park and communal gathering space.
Oh, and the gastropub says it’s meant to be family-friendly, with stroller parking and plenty of changing tables.
Grand opening for Livernois Tap is Saturday, June 3rd at 4p.m. The 10,000 square-foot space is located at 567 Livernois Ave. and seats 80 people inside the dining room and another 65 in the beer garden.
The taproom will be open six days a week and will serve a rotating list of 12-15 of their own craft beers, cider and a menu of “inspired beer food.”
The menu is divided into snacks, vegetables, ‘stuff on bread’, ‘from the cast iron’, sides and desserts. Stand-out dishes include a Fried Bologna Corn Dog, Crispy Animal Parts and Buffalo Fried Green Tomatoes. Floats will be a featured dessert featuring Axle’s beer and a rotating artisan ice cream.
Royal Oak-based Axle Brewing Co. is opening Livernois Tap and will be working with Grey Ghost chef Josef Giacomino, along with his partners David and John Vermiglio and Will Lee — all principals at Grey Ghost – to run the culinary end of the pub.
