DETROIT (WXYZ) — A trailer carrying 38 cows overturned on the westbound I-94 ramp to southbound I-75 Monday afternoon, according to Michigan State Police.
The trailer lost control and overturned around 3:10 p.m., a preliminary investigation found. Just after 6 p.m. crews were still in the area doing clean-up.
MSP troopers are currently waiting for a replacement livestock trailer to arrive on the scene from Albion to transport the animals. Police say the animals that were injured will need to be euthanized.
UPDATE: Workers continue to move the cows from the overturned semi into the new trailer. They are now cutting a second hole to get the rest. Once the live cows are moved they will be able to get the damaged trailer up right and towed from the scene. Looking at midnight so far. pic.twitter.com/hgNdPDVl2K
