Michigan Senator Coleman A. Young II has officially announced his run for the mayor of Detroit.

The senator held a news conference Friday morning to toss his hat in the race against current Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.

"My heart is like a lion," said Senator Coleman A. Young II. "I will do whatever it takes, blood, sweat, tears and toil -- I will fight to the very end to make sure that justice is done for the city of Detroit."

The senator talked about the need for change in the administration.

"As far as I'm concerned, he's just somebody that's in the way who needs to go," he said about Mayor Duggan. "It's time for the people's issues...and they'll have a seat at the table in the Young administration."
