CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Chesterfield Township Police Department helped an injured hunter out of the woods Sunday morning.

Police say the hunter, a 25-year-old man from Shelby Township, fell about 20 feet from a tree as he was bow hunting deer. He had his phone on him, called 911 and police were dispatched to the location of Hickey Road and North Foster Road.

The man was able to provide his location via GPS on his cell phone. He was ultimately located on State Hunting land south of 25 Mile Road and west of I-94.

The man suffered a broken leg and is in surgery with non-life-threatening injuries.
