The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to identify the person caught on surveillance video shortly before a fire on the property of Pontiac High School.
Deputies say someone set fire to about 20 pallets of insulation board on the grounds of the high school on May 27 around 4 a.m.
The pallets were for a roofing project that the district was supposed to start on this week. According to the sheriff's office, the fire destroyed about $500,000 worth of insulation.
Surveillance video shows a man approach the pallets of insulation wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and carrying a dark-colored backpack.
The suspect is described as a black male between the ages of 30-40 years old, about 6'0" with an average to large build.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
