Funeral held for slain WSU Police Officer Collin Rose

The funeral for slain Wayne State University Police Officer Collin Rose happened Thursday morning.

The pastor at the funeral was Monsignor G. Michael Bugarin.  

"God has tasked us with the awesome responsibility of bringing the message of Christ to family and friends of Officer Rose," said Bugarin.

Speakers at the funeral included Detroit Police Chief James Craig, Wayne State University Police Chief Tony Holt and Wayne State University President M. Roy Wilson.

Rose was shot last Tuesday night in Detroit and was taken to the hospital. He died on Wednesday. Police have arrested DeAngelo Davis for the murder.

In lieu of flowers - the family is asking for donations to be made to police charities or animal organizations.
