Snapchat's new 'Snap Map' will help users locate friends, events

Posted

If you need to find out where your friends are in a snap, don’t bother texting -- just open Snapchat.

The company recently introduced the "Snap Map." Users simply access it by pinching the screen once they are in camera mode within the app.

According to Snapchat’s official blog, with your permission, the map will show friends of your choosing where you’re hanging out. Your location is indicated by your Bitmoji character.

But don’t fear, if location sharing isn’t your style, there’s also a "Ghost Mode" that lets you remain inconspicuous.

The Snap Map also shows events nearby and beyond, highlighting snaps that bring you right to the middle of the action.

Users can even try adding to the map by selecting the 'our story' button once they take a snap.

The "Snap Map" should be available to most users when they update their app.
