Snow expected on Sunday

Posted
and last updated

If you caught the latest forecast blog you’d know that Sunday is the first of many chances of snow over the next week. The first storm impacts us on Sunday with slushy wet snow in the morning before mixing with rain thru the afternoon. If roads are treated. they shouldn’t be too bad - but always keep in mind bridges and overpasses are the first to freeze causing major problems for motorists.

We are forecasting 1” – 3” of snow for Metro Detroit before rain mixes in and melts some of it away. Most of the accumulation will be on lawns, cars and elevated surfaces although a slushy coating is possible on the roads and sidewalks. Some models are showing higher amounts of from Adrian, to Ann Arbor all the way up to Port Huron. Although this is a possibility, current thinking is higher amounts will be more isolated as opposed to widespread across Metro Detroit.

Temps Tumble - Graphic Starts Saturday 9PM

Temperatures will fall Sunday night into Monday morning leading to more icy patches for the Monday morning drive. We could even see some leftover lake-effect snow showers before skies clear and temps climb into the 40s by the afternoon.

Storm #2

Our next storm arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday. This one like Sunday’s storm could start off with a mix of rain & snow before changing over to all rain by Wednesday. Thanks to temperatures staying above freezing only minimal impacts are expected.
