(WXYZ) — The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched down in Shiawassee County Thursday evening.

Several counties across southeast Michigan were under a severe thunderstorm warning until 9 p.m., and many Michiganders are reporting damages in their area with photos and videos on Facebook and Twitter.
Patricia Rothney, of Shiawassee County, captured the moment a tornado touched down in her city. The photo was taken on Newberry Road in the city of Durand and shared on Facebook. The image has since been picked up by multiple news agencies.
Twitter user @CJPostal shared photos of damage north of Durand. The images show a home with significant damage to its roof, and debris scattered about the roadways.

Strong storms are expected to continue throughout metro Detroit until 10 p.m.
