Some members of the Detroit City Council plan to stand united in protest.
Council President Brenda Jones and council member Janee Ayers will stand with members of different civil rights groups as they ask for support in protesting one of the President-elect's appointees.
There is a host of civil rights groups in metro Detroit denouncing the appointment of Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions to the seat of attorney general.
And their opposition -- they say -- is fair given his history in his words and actions from the past.
His appointment comes after he was the first GOP senator to officially endorse Trump during the Republican primary.
He served as an advisor to Trump on things like immigration and the Supreme Court and standing by Trump's side through the various controversies that surrounded his campaign.
Sessions is no stranger to the U.S. Justice Department. He's been a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee for more than a decade.
It's to be noted that in 1986, the senator was not recommended for a role as a U.S. district judge by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Senator Sessions adamantly denies being a racist despite things he's said in the past.
