Authorities say the shooting happened on Oct. 28, 2025, at the BP gas station on Southfield Road near 10 Mile Road. Police responded to a report of a shooting at that location around 6 p.m. that day.

Police say two men were found shot at the gas station. We're told that before the shootings, two men who police believe knew each other walked into the gas station, got into an argument and exchanged gunfire. The two men shot were not involved in that argument and didn't know the shooting suspects, investigators say.

Both victims were hospitalized from the shooting with non-fatal injuries.

During a press conference Thursday afternoon, Southfield police and the FBI released new surveillance video.

Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren identified the suspects as Amanju Dozier, 23, of Auburn Hills, Deangelo Brown, 22, of Sterling Heights and Romello Johnson, 23, of Harper Woods.

Barren says Southfield police along with the FBI and Michigan State Police arrested the suspects on Jan. 6, Jan. 11 and Jan. 21.

The suspects face felony charges. One more person believed to be involved has not yet been taken into custody. That person is accused of firing shots at the gas station.

The shooting allegedly was the result of a gang dispute.

“Two separate criminals groups encountered each other, where they began firing at each other,” Barren said. “Dozier and Johnson exchanged gunfire inside the gas station. The clerk and patron were present. The innocent bystander is walking in the upper right hand corner and the first one shot. Both bystanders then went to Providence Hospital by Southfield EMS.”

Both victims survived and are recovering after being released from the hospital.

The three suspects remain behind bars as they wait for their next court date.

Barren says this type of violence has no place in the community.

“One suspect sought refuge for weeks in Dallas, Texas. We haven’t forgotten. We knew where they were the whole time. We were tracking their movements,” Barren said.

The chief says it's remarkable that more innocent people were not harmed.
