State police assisting with search of man wanted for felony assault in Crawford County

GRAYLING, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police are looking for a man wanted for felony assault, fleeing and eluding police, obstruction of justice and absconding from parole, according to a release.

Casey Helsel, 37, is believed to be in northern Michigan, and is known to frequent the Frederic, Grayling and Roscommon areas.

The Michigan State Police 7th District Fugative Team is assisting the Crawford County Sheriff's Department and Michigan Department of Corrections in the search.

Authorities add that anyone who assists Helsel in hiding will be charged with assisting and harboring a known felony fugitive.
