STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Stevenson High School student is recovering at a local hospital after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing Dodge Park Road Tuesday.
Police say the student was crossing Dodge Park Road in the crosswalk at Falcon Drive around 7:30 a.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound on Dodge Park hit her.
The student was conscious and alert after being struck, and was treated for leg and hip pain by the Sterling Heights Fire Department. She was then taken to a a local hospital and was listed in stable condition, however, she'll need surgery for a broken pelvis.
Police say speed, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.
