A strike has been averted, now that Fiat Chrysler and union leaders have come to a tentative contract deal.

The deal came just minutes before workers were set to hit the picket lines.

Close to 10-thousand autoworkers in Canada were ready to stand united had the contract not been ratified.

The new agreement includes a promise to continue investing in existing plants in Canada especially FCA's Brampton, Ontario plant.

The newly ratified contract won't be official until union members vote on it next week.

Once that has passed, attention for the union and its leaders will turn to negotiations with ford.
