Authorities say a 17-year-old student shot in the arm on a school bus outside of a southern Michigan school is expected to survive.
Jackson Police Deputy Chief Elmer Hitt tells The Associated Press the teen was shot once in the arm Monday afternoon on the bus outside of the Wilson Academy alternative high school. Police are searching for the suspect, who ran away.
Hitt says the victim attends the school but the suspect likely does not. Based on witness accounts, Hitt says it appears that the two knew each other and the victim was targeted.
According to Hitt, investigators believe they know who the suspect is, but they aren't getting a lot of information from the victim.
The school was placed on lockdown and another bus came to get the other students.
