(WXYZ) — Michigan is one of the worst states to be a woman, according to a new study from Zippia.
Each state was ranked in four categories: Percentage of women CEOs, percentage of women in poverty, income gap between male and female earners and life expectancy.
Michigan, along with nine other states, was named the worst due to having the least economic opportunity and greatest financial disparity between the sexes.
The income gap and percentage of women in poverty were calculated from the Census' American Community Survey.
For Michigan specifically, the percentage of female CEOs came out to be 32 percent, and the wage gap was the sixth worst in the nation.
