(WXYZ) — Phone scammers are getting more clever.
There's a new warning out saying thieves are focusing on quality over quantity, according to First Orion, a communications research company.
The group says scammers are calling potential victims, prepared with personal information, compared to the older model of just calling as many people as possible.
Scammers use the information they have to spoof the numbers they call from. Their goal is to make the number seem familiar so you're more likely to answer.
