BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The suspect in the death and decapitation of his 79-year-old step-grandmother in Bedford Township appeared in court for a probable cause conference on Wednesday morning.

Kenny McBride, 45, was arraigned on charges of open murder and mutilation of a corpse last week.

In the hearing, the judge accepted his lawyer's motion for McBride to undergo a psych evaluation to determine if he is competent to stand trial.

On Monday, Feb. 17 around 3:14 a.m., deputies responded to a single family home on the 8800 block of Lewis Avenue regarding a medical situation involving a possible death.

At the scene, deputies discovered the body of 79-year-old Cecilia Gibson in the living room area.
