ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Roseville police are looking for a man who is accused of stealing about $1,000 worth of items from a Home Deput during an armed robbery on Feb. 23.

The alleged robbery happened around 1:40 p.m. at 20500 13 Mile Road.

When police arrived to investigate the report of a robbery, they were told that the suspect, believed to be around 45 years old, loaded up his cart with about $1,000 in merchandise and left the store without paying for any of it.

When a loss prevention agent tried confronting the suspect, the man showed a black revolver-style handgun, police say. The loss prevention agent responding by running back inside the store with the suspect chasing him, according to police.

The suspect then caught up with the Home Depot employee and hit him several times with the handgun. The employee dropped his cell phone during the alleged attack and the suspect picked it up before leaving the store.

The employee wasn't seriously injured in the attack, police say.

Police say the suspect continued loading the stolen merchandise into an older model, dark color Toyota Camery and then fled the scene.
