Suspect arrested after shooting at Monroe apartment left 2 men injured

MONROE, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Monroe Police Department said a suspect has been taken into custody after a shooting left two people injured over the weekend.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the home on South Roessler St. around 10:10 p.m. Saturday for a victim with a gunshot wound. When officers arrived, they found two men shot in the upper torso when someone fired a shotgun at them.

The victims told police that the suspect was trying to get into their apartment when they produced a gun and fired at them.

Both men were taken to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery. Witnesses reported seeing a white sedan with three people inside fleeing the scene.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday, Monroe Police arrested the suspect without incident and recovered the weapon used in the shooting.

The suspect is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail and facing numerous charges.
