HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Harrison Township man arrested for allegedly making threats to shoot up personnel at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base was arraigned Tuesday.

Police identified the suspect as Roque Eugene Diegel, 53, who started working at the base in 2002. The Master Sergeant currently works as an Air Terminal Craftsman with the 127th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Selfridge, officials say.

Officers executed a warrant on the suspect's home and seized over 70 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

According to a press release, the threat came in on Sunday, Dec. 16 and was sent to uniform personnel at the Michigan State Police Metro North Post.

Diegel has been charged with one count of false report or threat of terrorism, a 20-year felony, officials say.

The motive behind the threats is still unknown.
