DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police have arrested a suspect in the carjacking of an Army veteran. The incident happened May 27 on the city's west side.
The 27-year-old male suspect surrendered to police after photos and video were taken of him from a Greenlight location. He was taken into custody without incident, and placed at the Detroit Detention Center for processing.
The carjacking happened around 1:45 a.m. on May 27, 2019 in the 9400 block of Woodward, near the New Center Area.
Police say the suspect approached and pulled a weapon on the 36-year-old veteran as he approached his black 2011 GMC Yukon. The suspect demanded the keys, which the victim turned over.
The suspect then entered the SUV and drove away. No one was injured.
