Sources are telling 7 Action News that the suspect in the Monday morning double fatal shooting on Quincy Street in Detroit has been found dead in Kentucky.

7 Action News is being told the suspect is a Michigan Department of Corrections employee and ws found dead of a self inflicted gunshot wound in Super 8 Motel.

Detroit police are still investigating the shooting in which a man and woman were shot and killed at a house on the city's west side.

We're told the shooting happened at the home on Quincy and Carter Street around 7:30 a.m.

A neighbor says a woman leapt out of a second-story window to escape the gunfire.

"Something told me to get up," said neighbor Stephanie Patton who heard some commotion outside.

Patton says she saw the woman on the ground, screaming for help. She tells 7 Action News she wrapped her in a blanket and tried to help her.

"I made sure she was covered up, because it was so cold and she just kept saying, 'I had to jump out the window.'"

Police say two people were found dead in the home. They also say the woman is being treated at a nearby hospital for a leg injury.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear at this time.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story said that two women were shot. The neighbor told 7 Action News the woman who leapt from the window said her sisters were shot. Police say a man and a woman were shot and killed
