Suspect leads police on high-speed chase in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — A police chase overnight topped 120 miles an hour in Monroe County.

Police say a man led deputies on a wild chase after he was allegedly caught stealing from a Walmart. Police say after leaving Walmart, the man ran to a nearby Applebee's, where he got into a car and sped off.

Multiple police agencies eventually joined the chase.

Speeds reached as high as 90 miles per hour on back roads and 120 miles per hour on the freeway. Police say the man managed to leave the car in the area of Laplaisance and Dunbar and took off running again.
