A 71-year-old woman from Troy suffered a leg injury after she was struck by a suspected drunk driver, allegedly on purpose.

According to a release from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the woman told deputies that a man had intentionally struck her with his vehicle in the 3000 block of Livernois Road.

She told police that he was intoxicated and was offering to drive him home. She was standing behind the vehicle while she was demanding that he not drive. The driver then reportedly placed the vehicle in reverse and accelerated backward, striking the victim.

Police say the suspect, a 66-year-old man from Troy, is an acquaintance of the woman. He was arrested and has been charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury.
