(WXYZ) — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery by suspects who identified themselves as sheriff's deputies.
According to the sheriff's office, it happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday in Frenchtown Township at a home in the 2100 block of Sandy Creek Rd.
Police say four suspects forced entry into the home and identified themselves as being from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
"I heard the glass shatter, of course, and I started to walk out of the bedroom," the victim told 7 Action News. "And it's when the door got kicked in, they came, you know, they had full sheriff uniforms on, and masks and then they had guns drawn"
He said he was assaulted by the suspects, pistol whipped, tied up and held down while they ransacked the home. He tells us “I thought I was going to be shot."
"One guy stayed on top of me with his leg on me. Alls I heard was just ... kept asking me, 'where's the money, where's the money, where's the drugs and where's the safe.' And I just told him I just purchased the house not even a month ago," he said.
The suspects later fled the scene and the victim called 911. He sustained minor injuries in the attack.
“Today I feel nervous. I'm scared. My head hurts,” the owner says, adding he has a softball size knot on his head.
